The Town brought their Westaro Masters League to an impressive end with a comprehensive win over Manulla to take the runners-up spot in Division One.

Town secured 27 points in total thanks to nine wins from of their 12 games, with two of their three defeats coming against champions Westport United. The other defeat was back on the opening day of the campaign against Claremorris, who finished in third position in the table, just a point behind Town.

Manulla, who finished fourth, were no match for Town on Wednesday night. Ballina’s 13 goals were scored by Tom O’Connor (five), Malachy McCarron (three), Mark Beattie (two), Eamon Cawley (two) and Cormac O’Malley (one), while Manulla’s newly-appointed Super League manager Roger Clarke got two of their goals, with Chris Moore and Gary Dillon adding the other two.

With the league now concluded, round one of the Oliver Kelleher Masters Cup will be played next Wednesday evening (February 26th), with the Town taking on Straide & Foxford United.
