It was another win for Mark Beattie’s side as Ballina Town B made it hard work again on Sunday, May 5.

After going 4-0 the B team slacked off and let Erris into the game.

Beattie’s side started off strong when striker Luke Honan opened play up and let Ryan Moran into open space to continue on a solo run and found himself in the box. Ryan made no mistake in drilling the ball into the right side of goal. Ballina pressured Erris and played the ball on the ground and eventually Luke Honan again linking up play with Stephen Moyles who played Shane Devers through and calmly slipped it past the keeper to go 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes of play. Ballina went all out and scored a 3rd minutes later when Daniel Gorman picked out Eric Monk Eaton on the right wing and whipped in a cross that Dale Hopkins headed into the back of the net. Daniel Gorman was the man once again assisting Shane Devers who scored his 2nd of the game and surly at 4-0 the Ballina Town thought they had this game wrapped up inside 30minutes. But, some tight passing around the back and pressure from Erris made Keeper Shane Coen gift a pass to Erris men and they made no mistake in taking there chance and made it 4-1 going into half time.

Ballina started off the second half slowly and could easily be put down to the hot conditions. Dale Hopkins scoring 2 offside goals and possibly taking Erris for granted saw Erris score a 2nd goal and put Ballina under pressure to see out the game. Ballina started to take control of the game again once Erris saw an opportunity at 4-2 to cause an upset. However the man of the match Stephen Moyles took control in midfield and slipped Dale Hopkins through, Dale got round the keeper and at angle made it 5-2. Ballina men once again lost concentration and Erris within 3 minutes of Ballina’s goal , attacked the center and a shot that came back out from a Coen save, to Erris winger and Made it 5-3. It started to become a worrying score line for Beatties team and after some substitutions that saw Jordan Delaney , Pj Gilmartin and Shane Mckee change the pace of the game and Ballina striker Dale Hopkins chased down a back pass to the keeper and won the block, Dale Walked the ball into the net and took his Hat trick and all three points for Ballina Town B.

5 wins from 5 sees Ballina Town B top of the table in the premier league.
