Gerry Kenny is the new Town president

Former player and long-time supporter of Ballina Town FC Gerry Kenny, was ratified as the club’s new president at a well attended annual general meeting in The Cot & Cobble last night.

Gerry takes over the role from club founder Paddy Flynn, who sadly passed away in the latter part of last year.

No more than Paddy, Gerry has shown huge dedication to Ballina Town F.C. for many years, and he accepted the position as president with gratitude.

Fittingly, Paddy’s daughter Susan (Finnerty) was on hand to present Gerry with a club blazer to mark his promotion to the role of president. Susan herself accepted the position of non-executive registrar as the officers were elected on the night. Susan and Gerry are pictured together below.

The other officers elected were as follows: chairperson – Simon Beale; vice-chairperson – Conor Moore; secretary – Mags McCafferty; assistant secretary – Lorraine Murphy; treasurer – Jane O’Hora; assistant treasurer – Brian Gillespie; PRO – Cormac O’Malley; development officer – Aidan Cowan.

The reports from the chairperson, secretary, treasurer and development officer highlighted a number of projects in the pipeline at Belleek Park, including pitch work, car park resurfacing and installation of lighting, and coach education.
